We are a fully licensed, family oriented childcare centre and hire qualified Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) that offer quality childcare.
Our Burnside Dr. location consists of;
- Infant Room
- Toddler Room
- Preschool Room
- Early Learning School Readiness Program (ELSRP)
- School Aged Room
Lunch and two snacks are provided each day. On-the-land Learning at Dorothy Lake during the summer. Field trips and guest speakers regularly. Cultural Lead visits each group daily to do drumming, storytelling, and cultural activities with the children.
Our facilities offer an inter-cultural environment and explore our shared human values as well as celebrate our uniqueness building toward a strong, inclusive community. Our blended curriculum will enhance a positive sense of identity and understanding of Indigenous cultures. We view children as competent, capable, curious and rich in potential. We embrace each child’s spirit and recognize they bring their own individual gifts. Educators bring a wide variety of professional experiences which enrich children and families in our care. We value family, believing the family is a major component in a child’s healthy development and their growing sense of self.
Visits from our Wisdom Keepers provide teachings of the Anishinaabe ways including Medicine Wheel teachings which tells of the representation of all things connected within the circle of life and the Seven Grandfather Teachings of Wisdom, Honesty, Love, Respect, Bravery, Humility and Truth. Children love to participate in drumming, Indigenous crafts and learning the Ojibwe/Algonquin languages.
Additionally we offer on-the-land programming in a safe and well monitored environment.
On-the-land learning environment is natural to Indigenous people. It is a holistic approach to learning, one involving all five senses while in the presence of Mother Earth. Keepers of The Circle Learning Centres offer such an environment for the children to explore, learn and grow in. Mother Earth grounds and humbles us. This program offers the opportunity to freely and openly explore the natural environment around us while learning form and being guided by our Wisdom Keepers and educators. The land becomes our third teacher.
