Beaverhouse First Nation is looking for an Economic Development Officer who will play an important role in the community’s transformation and development, by supporting the growth and advancement of its community members. The successful candidate will implement the community’s strategic economic development plan and will play an important role in developing business initiatives, doing outreach to industrial stakeholders, consulting with community members, researching and writing proposals to fund community and economic projects. This position is in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and is a three-year contract, with the possibility of extension. What do you bring?
- Post-secondary education in community development, business, commerce, economics, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness of working with First Nations; Knowledge of Indigenous Rights, history, culture, and current socioeconomic issues.
- Experience in community or economic development would be an asset.
- An outgoing and energetic personality combined with a keen sense of respect towards advancing the community’s strategic directions.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent English verbal and written communication.
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools i.e., MS Teams.
Working Hours: 8:30 AM-4:30 PM (may vary at times)
Salary: Remuneration depending on experience and qualifications (starting salary- $55,000/year)
