Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse peoples.

About the Role

The Financial Clerk, under the direction of the Finance Manager, will primarily be responsible for providing general counsel, advice, and guidance on business and financial matters as required. This position will build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth. This role will also maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities. The Financial Clerk must possess a degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field and three years of experience in the financial industry.

Remuneration $27.00/hr at 40 hours per week

Roles and responsibilities include:

Provide general counsel, advice, and guidance on business and financial matters as required

Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth

Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all activities

Act as the first line contact with vendors or clients regarding billing problems

Advise on the content and accuracy of financial reporting

Ensure that all month-end financial duties and resulting financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any internal or external audits or independent reviews being conducted

Collect, interpret, and report on financial data

Prepare financial statements and bank reconciliations

Process and enter invoices for payment, match invoices with purchase orders, and check for accuracy

Organize filing of all appropriate documents

Prepare monthly submissions for accounting and monthly remittances

Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude always

Requirements:

Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field

Three years of experience in the financial industry

Certifications or licenses appropriate to industry

Ability to analyze and present numerical data in tables, spreadsheets, and forms

Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements

Ability to read, understand, and calculate financial figures such as discounts, interest rates, proportions, percentages, and taxes

Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls

Meticulous with numbers

Demonstrated time management skills

Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands

High level of integrity and excellent work ethic

Ability to work individually as well as part of a team

This position is on a full-time basis and is based out of our Administration Office located in New Liskeard, ON.
