Position Summary
The Gender-Based Violence Awareness and Prevention Coordinator will provide support to GBV cases and provide the appropriate referrals needed to address, prevent and heal from violence. They will work closely with our internal Indigenous Support team, our Mino M’Shki-ki Indigenous health team, Elders and external support organizations to enhance our wrap-around services.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Document pathways and journey within the system for members (clients)
• Responsible for conducting needs assessments and case management for victims or survivors of violence and complete necessary referrals.
• Hold workshop and seminars to raise awareness about GBV and local GBV supports both in-house and in communities.
• Refer individuals and/or support the delivery of culturally appropriate supports including healing and sharing circles, land-based interventions, traditional medicines, and sacred ceremonies.
• Introduce culturally rooted interventions to assist in:
understanding how indigenous victims and survivors are impacted by gender-based violence and support their healing through traditional and cultural approaches and,
Understanding how the provision of culturally appropriate services and care opens safe pathways to self-reporting of gender-based violence, and consequently, supports members to access programming that strengthens their healing journeys
Requirements and Skills
